Permission Granted

Inspired by Elizabeth Gilbert’s “Big Magic,” Keith and Laura dive deeper into the topic of designing and leading one’s best life. After reading part of “Big Magic” with a group, Keith wrote himself permission to design and lead his best life. And, sometimes that means doing hard things.

The couple agrees that building the “muscle” of doing hard things is important to living a great life. Even when decisions feel risky or difficult, making the tough choice or taking appropriate risks, can lead to a more open and fulfilling life.

Laura and Keith reflect on pivotal moments in their relationship, where doing the “hard thing” was the best thing. They discuss the nuance of pushing through hard things and how embracing the discomfort of challenges often leads to growth.

Biggest Takeaways:

  • Give yourself permission to design and lead your best life.
  • Embrace curiosity as a driving force for creativity and personal growth.
  • Recognize the importance of both big and small decisions in shaping your life’s trajectory.
  • Push through discomfort and fear to achieve growth and fulfillment.
  • Learn to say “no” to protect your time and energy.

Keith and Laura’s conversation serves as a reminder that we all have the power to shape our lives. By embracing creativity, making intentional decisions, and pushing through challenges, we can create a life that aligns with our values and aspirations.
